45 Miles Ends with Smiles

On Saturday 13th August 2011 Worshipful Master Peter Boyd of Ashley Lodge No 6525 organised a Tandem Ride covering 45 miles around Poole to raise money for the 2014 RMBI Dorset Festival.
Including Gift Aid, the ride raised a total of £293.75, which is an outstanding amount considering the ride only consisted of a small team of brethren and family members.
Two of the riders taking part were over 60 and had not been near a bicycle for nearly 40 years! So getting on the bike alone was a huge personal achievement. It was later said that some of the riders ‘couldn't sit down comfortably for a couple of days' after the 45 mile trek - meaning the money raised was all the more rewarding.
