Scarbrough Court, Foundation Stone Laying, 1 June
2007

Representatives of the
RMBI and the Provinces of Cumberland and Westmorland, Durham and
Northumberland donned hard hats and reflective jackets and gathered
together on a sunny day in June to lay the foundation stone for a new
RMBI residential care Home.
Scarbrough Court opened in Cramlington just
north of Newcastle 40 years ago and was in need of modernisation. The
RMBI decided it was more cost effective to invest in a brand new state
of the art Home, which is now being built in the grounds of the existing
Home. The residents are watching the new building take shape with great
interest from a ‘viewing room’ overlooking the site. Once completed next
summer, they will move across and the existing building will be
demolished.
