The Fundraising Cycle - 6 June 2006

After 14 days cycling an average 70 miles per day W Bro Michael Humphrey LGR, secretary of Gibraltar Lodge No 4997, completed his Lands End to John O'Groats solo charity cycle ride, on schedule, on the 6 June. The ride was in support of the RMBI and also a hospice close to his place of work. Michael said it was an epic adventure over 971 miles with much varied weather, topography and road conditions. The beauty and isolation of Northern Scotland made up for the congestion of the midlands. The event started on 23 May after months of training and preparation and excellent support/help from numerous companies, businesses and individuals .

At the end of it he said he felt like a tiger - no aches nor pains just very fit. Amazingly, he didn't get one puncture. He went on to say that it was a great personal challenge and a great way to see the UK. Michael would like to thank those lodges and individuals who kindly made a donation in support of his charity cycle ride; also the staff of the RMBI and St Andrews Hospice Grimsby for their support and in particular to W Bro Bill Mclaughlan PPSGD (Lincolnshire) for his outstanding contribution as support vehicle driver. Michael will in due course be writing a detailed factual report (obtainable from the RMBI) on the event including details of sums raised.
