RMBI Big Band Concert - Friday 29th October 2004
The RMBI’s first fundraising concert took place
on Friday 29th October, in the unique setting of the Grand Temple,
Freemasons Hall.
Over 300 people attended, and thoroughly enjoyed
the high standard of music played by the Don Lusher Big Band, with
vocalist Sheila Southern. The concert was intended as a profile and
money raiser for the Middlesex Festival 2009, and we were pleased to
welcome Pro Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro David Cons and his wife and
Grand Secretary VW Bro Robert Morrow among our guests.
Middlesex APGM W Bro Dudley Wensley, Provincial
Information Officer W Bro Alan Holton and former RMBI President Brian
Smith also attended with their wives.
Don Lusher spent nine years with the well known
Ted Heath Band, and has worked with such stars as Frank Sinatra, Bing
Crosby and Barbra Streisand. The Don Lusher Big Band was formed in 1980,
and by 1984 was playing concert dates all over the UK.
