New dementia facilities at Barford Court
13 January 2012
A new dementia support unit has recently opened at RMBI care home Barford Court, Hove.
The unit can accommodate 10 people and provides a therapeutic environment in a warm and supportive atmosphere for people with dementia.
The staff at Barford Court have received specialist training so that they are able to provide support to the residents to live a meaningful and active life whilst living at the Home. The family sized unit of 10 enables each person to be cared for as an individual and for their uniqueness to be recognised and incorporated into the care given to them. This works in tandem with RMBI's Care Strategy of providing person centred care.
The Home is in the process of setting up a relatives' support group for families of people living with dementia. The purpose of the group will be to offer both emotional support and advice about all aspects of dementia, with an emphasis on sharing experiences and learning from each other.
The unit now allows the Home to provide specialist dementia care to the local Masonic community and also to continue to provide care to those residents whose needs change whilst living at the Home.
If you would like more information on the types of care provided at Barford Court, please contact the Home Manager Susan Hale on 01273 777736 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
