We have three Dementia Support Houses. Fred Crosland House can support up to 10 residents. During the day there are two carers who work alongside a Senior Shift Leader and one at night, supported by a senior carer.
Knavesmire House can support up to 16 residents, supervised by a Senior Shift Leader. During the day there are three carers and one carer at night and each shift is supported by a senior carer.
Ebor, our new Dementia Support House, can support up to seven residents with advanced dementia. Residents are cared for by a senior carer and two carers during the day and one at night. They will also be supported two days a week by an experienced senior carer working supernumerary hours.
Our nursing area can support up to 15 people and is managed by a Registered Nurse, who leads a team of three care staff during the day and one at night.
Most of our care staff have achieved, or are working towards an NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care. The Home has an experienced Management team comprising of two trained nurses, and managers with many years’ experience in Health and social care.
We have a 24-hour nurse call system installed in all our residents’ rooms and some of the residents have a personal alarm to carry, so they can call for assistance when they are around the Home.
We have two dedicated Activities Coordinators who organise a variety of activities as well as trips outside of the Home, to support our residents’ health and wellbeing. We also have fluent Thai, Nepalese, Indian, Latvian, Filipino, Bulgarian, Polish, Malay, Turkish, Indonesian, Algerian, Italian and Mandarin speakers.
Please note that the level of care each person receives will depend on their individual needs. This is continuously monitored and reviewed to ensure each person receives the right level of care. Staffing levels may be adjusted in different areas of the Home to support the level of care required by residents at any particular point in time.
