The Freemasons’ Grand Charity

A grant-making charity, which supports people in need. These grants fall into three main categories:

  • Masonic Grants Assistance: for Freemasons and their families who are experiencing hardship
  • Non-Masonic Grants: supporting national charities, including Hospices and worldwide disaster relief
  • Other Masonic Charities: when justifiable needs arise, we will support the other Masonic charities

We also operate the Relief Chest Scheme, which helps Lodges and other Masonic organisations to maximise the value of the funds they collect.

Masonic Samaritan Fund (MSF)

Established in 1990 for the relief of suffering and sickness of Freemasons and their dependants, or the widows and dependants of deceased Freemasons. The MSF makes grants to cover all or part of the cost of medical treatment, for those eligible, who have a long wait for or no access to NHS treatment and cannot fund their own private medical treatment.

The main work of the Trust is to assist Masonic families who have experienced a change in their circumstances that has led to financial hardship by providing ongoing financial support to relieve poverty and advance education. The Trust also funds TalentAid for gifted young people from Masonic families and Choral Bursaries for young choristers. There are many other smaller funds that can help in all sorts of situations.
