101 year old Watford FC supporter Doug Hawes enjoyed a VIP trip to Vicarage Road on Saturday for the match against Sheffield United.
The Association of Friends for RMBI Home Prince Michael of Kent Court, where Doug lives, had contacted the Club to ask if they could arrange for him to join his football loving daughter Sue Stalley at the ground.
The Club duly obliged, generously providing Doug and his fellow care home residents, Alan Kempson, 89, and Ron Eadon, 92, with complimentary tickets.
Doug, who turned 101 two weeks ago, said: “It’s been wonderful! I wasn’t sure if I’d get to a match again at my age, so it’s been magic.”
Tracy Lydon, Activities Coordinator at RMBI Home Prince Michael of Kent Court, who accompanied Doug and fellow residents to the match, said: “Doug’s family are well known at our Home for their love of Watford FC. We’re absolutely thrilled that he was able to join his daughter for the match. All three of our residents had such a special day to remember. We’re very grateful to Watford FC for making it possible. They didn't stop smiling all day and Doug said being there meant everything to him!”
