Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court has started a new food and nutrition initiative for residents at the Home in Porthcawl, Mid Glamorgan.
Staff member Emily Bethell came up with the idea during a placement for her nurse training, where she was inspired by the hospital’s initiative called Breakfasts of the World. The Home now decided to hold a similar monthly themed breakfast for residents.
Every last Friday of the month residents are being treated to a special brekkie from a different country. This month they tucked into a selection of French delicacies such as croissants, pains au chocolate, strawberry brioches and pains au raisin.
Business Coordinator Rebecca Timms said: “Food and nutrition plays an important part in everyday life at our Home and we ensure residents receive healthy meals that support their overall wellbeing. Following the start of our monthly themed breakfasts, residents said they enjoy a change from the food they are used to and love trying something new. They are already looking forward to the American themed breakfast next month.”
