Residents at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court in Porthcawl were treated to a day of pampering along with a little glitz and glamour, when beauty therapy organisation Beautiful You came to the Home recently.
Skin care and make up specialist Kelly Anthony, founder of Beautiful You and based in Porthcawl, has been visiting the Home since October 2017 when they approached the Home to take part in a pilot scheme. The services include makeovers, massages and beauty treatments to residents living in care homes.
Emma Price, Administration Assistant at the Home, said: “The sessions make our ladies feel like a million dollars. It also recaptures some of the sparkle many of them feel they have lost with age. Even our most reserved ladies really come out of their shell after being made to feel so pampered and relaxed. After each session they are always asking me when the next session is.”
Pauline Brumwell, a resident at the Home says that the treatments are soothing and help her to relax. “I’m 93 so I’m not expecting much with make-up but it’s made me feel great.”
Beautiful You is expanding their services and training more therapists, in part due to the huge success at the Home and many other homes across South Wales. The team at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court is planning to attend the training to see if it is an additional service they can offer residents.
