Residents at Connaught Court in Fulford, York, teamed up with students from Fulford School for a Valentine's Day lunch.
The event was hosted by the school's Year 10 Technology GCSE group and Year 10 Work Skills students, who invited the care home residents to join them for a delicious Valentine's meal on 13 February 2017 at Fulford School.
Residents were welcomed with tea and coffee, and homemade heart shaped shortbread to set the theme. They enjoyed a game of bingo, followed by a lunch with homemade sandwiches, cakes, scones and cream, quiche and chocolate cheesecake brownies prepared by the students.
Entertainment was also provided by students playing live music, including a Jazz Band, saxophone, flute and acoustic guitar. The afternoon offered more entertainment, such as a picture and soap opera quiz and a raffle with chocolatey prizes for residents.
Connaught Court's Activities Coordinator Stephanie Taylor said: "At the Home we regularly bring residents and the local community together through mutual events. Residents had a lovely day organised by Fulford School's students and it helps them feel part of the community and to make friends outside the Home.
"The previous week we had visited St Oswald's Church Hall in Fulford to attend an afternoon of quizzes, cakes and poetry readings, organised by volunteers as part of the Time Out Club. Residents always appreciate getting together with local people."
