Judith Cadman, resident at Devonshire Court in Leicester, recently celebrated her 76th birthday with a cracking party.
Judy, who turned 76 on 30 April, had wished for a large birthday party with around 20 guests to mark her celebrations. Family and friends were joined by residents and staff at the care home in Oadby, for a special meal served with wine.
The party at the Home's Lifford Lounge also included a delicious birthday cake specially prepared by Devonshire Court's chefs.
Judy's dream of a cracking birthday party is part of the care home's "The Year of Dreams" project that encourages residents to voice their dreams including things they think they'd never be able to do. Staff are working closely with residents to find out about their wishes and to make them come true.
Home Manager Juliet O'Connor said: "We asked residents to tell us what their dreams were, no matter how big or small. We then set up a Dreams committee to make residents' dreams as real as possible, also for those who may not be physically able to carry out their dream."
Judy's husband Cedric said: "I couldn't praise the day enough, I am very grateful to the staff at Devonshire Court for organising a lovely day for my wife. It is difficult for her to get out, so the birthday party held at the Home was more than we could have wished for."
