Residents at RMBI Care Co. Home Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court in Stisted, Essex, took a walk on the wild side this week.
A snake, a tarantula, a skunk and a lizard were among the exotic creatures that delighted residents with a surprise visit to the Home.
The exotic creatures visited with J&C's Party Pets and residents were given the opportunity to stroke or hold them, while learning more about them from their handlers.
Among the residents was 98 year old Joan Chapman. Joan was the first in line to handle the snake, having never met one before.
Dani Lane, Activities Coordinator at RMBI Home Prince Edward Duke of Kent, said: “Our residents really enjoyed meeting all the amazing animals. They were fascinated and wanted to know all about them. The snake was a big hit with our residents, they absolutely loved it! One of our ladies, Joan, was particularly keen and asked if she could have it put round her neck! She was the first to hold the tarantula too! It proved to be a wonderful sensory experience and a lot of fun for everyone.”
The visit was part of a special ‘staycation’ week of activities being organised at the Home.
