Children from West Exe Nursery School have joined residents at Cadogan Court in Exeter for a series of activities this summer including painting and an afternoon tea.
On 25 June, the nursery children visited residents at the Home on Barley Lane where they chatted with residents and painted pictures of summertime at the seaside, which were later put up in the care home’s reception to create a colourful gallery.
Returning the invitation, residents at Cadogan Court were asked to join the nursery school children on 19 July, where they brought along the Home’s dog Molly and enjoyed cream tea whilst the children sang songs and introduced their nursey chickens Sophie and Barney to residents.
Activities Coordinator Angela Webb, who helped to organise the events, said: “Teaming up with the children of West Exe Nursery School has been a really special experience for our residents. It has brought together several generations and helped our residents and the children to learn more about each other and build friendships. We hope this is a start of many ongoing events between the nursery and the care home.”
