Residents at Connaught Court in York got creative with a range of fragrant activities, making herb scented bags and potpourri.
On 30 August, residents at the care home in Fulford created scented bags made from home grown lavender and purple organza, complete with lilac ribbons. The group also crafted potpourri from dried rose petals, sycamore seeds and rosemary from the Home's gardens, while some residents took part in a flower arranging session.
Residents were joined by a volunteer from a local school, helping with arts and crafts during the summer holidays, as well as a local herbalist, who provided verbena, lime leaves and orris root powder to add extra exotic smells.
Activities Coordinators Stephanie and Fran said: "Residents enjoyed this hands-on activity, which supports their feeling of confidence and fosters social interaction. They created wonderfully fragrant bags that will be great as presents for family and friends. We will also use the flowers to decorate areas around the Home."
