Hindhead community comes together with a pot of fun

Staff from Genevieve’s Gallery in Egham have joined residents at Shannon Court care home for a spot of painting, to help celebrate a Friendship and Communities theme currently running in RMBI care homes.

During the session on 8 February, residents at the Home in Hindhead enjoyed painting and glazing items with guidance from the gallery team.

“On my visit, I was greeted by a charming group of ladies who were at first unsure about their abilities to do pottery painting.  When they were shown some samples and simple techniques they were away,” said gallery owner Genevieve Neilson.

“Heart Trinket boxes, coasters and mugs were decorated with thumb prints which they turned into strawberries, spotty mugs and heart plaques to create gifts for their loved ones,” she added.

“At Shannon Court, we experience first hand the positive impact that being active in the community can have on a person’s health and wellbeing. We believe that it’s vital to nurture these relationships at any age, so we work closely with our residents to understand their hobbies and interests, and tailor our activities as much as we can,” said Carl Francis, Home Manager at Shannon Court.
