Local children help Shannon Court residents to beat the winter blues

11 January 2019

The grandchildren of staff at RMBI Home Shannon Court in Hindhead helped residents beat the winter blues this week by joining them for a touring pantomime production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

The children and care home residents were equally delighted joining in with all the traditional ‘he’s behind you!’ moments side by side. The panto was kindly arranged for the Home by The Association of Friends of Shannon Court.

Shannon Court Activities Coordinator, Jackie Tumber, said: “The time after Christmas and New Year celebrations can feel like an anti-climax, so we like to have lots of fun things planned to ward off the winter blues. Our residents absolutely love it when our staff invite their grandchildren to our Home as they bring a wonderful energy and vibrance which is an absolute tonic. Watching them all joining in together was just fabulous!”

One of the residents, Sarah Lever, who always loved attending the annual pantomime at the Home had to miss this year as she was in hospital due to her poor health. Sarah was very disappointed to have missed out but to her delight, the pantomime cast signed a Get Well card for her.

The pantomime was provided by the Gary Starr Touring Pantomimes.  http://www.garystarrpantomimes.co.uk/
