Care home residents and staff at Lord Harris Court in Wokingham turned back the clocks with a 1950’s party at the Home in Sindlesham.
During the event on 6 September, residents enjoyed a themed menu and both residents and staff dressed up for the occasion. Activities included a skipping and hula hoop competition followed by music from local entertainer Grace to help residents reminisce about the era, as well as a 1950’s themed quiz.
Activities Coordinator Hannah Lawrence said: “We’re always keen to put on events that help our residents to recall memories, especially for our residents living with dementia. It brings a sense of familiarity and many residents have fond stories from this era and its culture from the clothes they wore, to the food they ate and music they listened to. It was wonderful to help recreate this environment and bring everyone together to celebrate this period of time.”
