Staff at Shannon Court have received special recognition for their activities at this year’s Surrey Care Awards on 17 November.
Activities Coordinators Jackie Tumber and Lynda Windsor from the Home in Hindhead, picked up the award at the ceremony at Epsom Downs Racecourse amongst local leading care providers. The award recognises the service provider with the ‘Most Innovate Activities Programme Involving Service Users.’
“It’s really exciting to be recognised for our activities at Shannon Court. We aim to focus on both individual (person centred) and group activities which can vary from trips to the museum, to flower arranging and art therapy. Recently we introduced virtual reality headsets which help residents to reminisce, transporting them to their bucket list or back to fond memories like going to the beach or on a safari. We work really hard to make life fun for our residents and to ensure that every day is different,” says Activities Coordinator Jackie Tumber.
Carer Veronika Feszecsko at the Home also received a certificate for becoming a Finalist in the ‘Beyond the Call of Duty – Care Home’ category.
The Surrey Care Awards is organised by the Surrey Care Association. Over 400 guests attended the awards evening which is now in its ninth year.
