Residents at Shannon Court, in Surrey, were determined not to let the pandemic prevent them from marking the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
The Home’s staff are working tirelessly to keep residents safe and well, setting up regular phone and video calls between residents and their families and doing everything they can to keep up morale.
On Friday, staff organised a VE Day celebration lunch and cakes in the Home’s gardens. Residents enjoyed live music from Pete’s Music, seated at a safe distance or listened from their rooms. They later joined the nation in singing ‘We’ll Meet Again’.
Home Activities Coordinator, Sam Geddes, says: “We were determined not to let these difficult times prevent us from marking the anniversary of VE Day, it meant such a lot to our residents. It was a great day which lifted everyone’s spirits.”
