Strawberry tea helps to raise over £9,400 at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court

Delighted residents, staff and volunteers have raised in excess of £9,400 during Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court’s annual Strawberry Tea.

The event, which took place on Saturday 3 June, was attended by over 300 people including residents, their families, staff and special guests, including the Mayor of Porthcawl, Lorrie Desmond. It was hosted by the Home’s Association of Friends and staff at the care home.

Local entertainers San and Rhian sang for the crowds whilst they enjoyed their strawberries, followed by the Sounds Familiar Choir, who performed on the lounge’s balcony.  Food stalls included a BBQ and cake stand, alongside other activities like the tombola, Play Your Cards Right and Splat the Rat games to entertain the crowds. The raffle alone raised over £2,200 and after ticket sales and donations, took the total to over £9,400 on the day. Funds raised will go towards supporting residents at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court.

Speaking about the event, Rebecca Timms, Business Administrator said: “There are so many people to thank for this hugely successful event, which brought people in the Masonic and wider local community together. We’re thrilled with the amount raised which will go directly back into supporting residents at our care home. Following such an overwhelming turnout, we are already looking ahead and making plans for our annual Christmas Fayre in December.”
