Residents at Devonshire Court, in Oadby, were all of a flutter this week when some friendly feathered visitors came to visit.
Elvis, a Eurasion eagle owl and Fletcher, a tawny owl, delighted residents who were only too happy to give them a stroke.
Home Activities Coordinator, Claire Barratt, said: “We wanted to do something for our residents to ward off the winter blues, so we invited these feathered beauties to our Home. It was a fantastic way of bringing nature and the outdoors into the home on a cold winter’s day!”
On Friday 25th January, residents at Cadogan Court enjoyed a full day of festivities to celebrate Burns Night.
Residents gathered together in the dining room and were joined by Tom the Piper, a member of Exeter Pipes and Drums society. Tom performed the pre-dinner ceremonies including walking the Haggis from the kitchen with Operations Manager Stuart Evans, as well as the stabbing and blessing of the Haggis.
On Friday 11 January, Managing Director Mark LLoyd visited Barford Court to learn how the Home provides excellent care for our residents.
Mark arrived for the 7.30am morning shift at Henry Cottrell Dementia House designed for 10 residents. He spent the morning learning first hand about the iCare and the electronic medication system and found it was moving to be with a staff team who were completely focused on person centred care.
