A resident at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court in Stisted, Essex, has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Rose Robertson enjoyed a tea party at the Home with her fellow residents. Staff were determined to ensure that she had a memorable birthday, in spite of the pandemic.
She was surprised and delighted to receive an official birthday card from Her Majesty the Queen, telling carers: “I can’t believe it!”
Rose was born in Stepney, East London, on 16 May 1919, shortly after the end of the First World War.
Staff and residents at Cornwallis Court, in Bury St Edmunds, say they have been ‘overwhelmed’ by the kindness and support they have received from the local community.
The Home’s staff are working tirelessly to keep residents safe and to support their wellbeing in these challenging times, setting up video calls between residents and their families and organising lots of sing songs in an effort to keep up morale.
Residents at Shannon Court, in Surrey, were determined not to let the pandemic prevent them from marking the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
