Residents at Prince Edward Duke of Kent in Essex receive their first vaccinations
Over ninety five percent success rate for vaccination roll out
All eligible residents have now been offered and received their Covid-19 vaccinations. Over 1,000 staff members have also benefitted in receiving the vaccine to date.
Lateral flow tests (LFT)
Our residents and staff receive regular tests for Covid-19. All visitors to our Homes must also undergo an LFT and receive a negative result prior to meeting residents. All staff members in our CQC registered Homes in England are tested twice a week, which enables quick and early detection of the virus. Our Welsh Homes are closely following the Welsh Government guidance.
In line with Government guidance, care home residents can now participate in low-risk, out-of-home visits without having to self-isolate on their return to their care home.
Reduced isolation period for new residents
Current guidance advises a 14-day isolation period for new placements but with the arrival of the vaccine and improved testing, we hope to see this drop to as low as five days, on a case by case basis, subject to developing guidance and individual circumstances. We are also planning to support new residents’ through testing and self-isolating in their own home before coming to one of our care homes, which will help to enable a shorter period of self-isolation.
Our commitment to safety, health and wellbeing
Our priority remains the safety, health and wellbeing of our residents and staff members during the current crisis. We are proactively planning for the improvements we hope the vaccine will bring, and guided by the Government, Public Health England and Wales. Our Homes are safely able to welcome new residents, support family visits and provide Home tours, thanks to our robust infection prevention and control measures. We also remain in regular contact with our residents’ families, to update on the actions we are taking to keep our Homes safe.
