Chanelle has worked for RMBI Care Co. for 15 years.
No two days are the same. I support residents with their individual care needs. I participate in activities, whether it is handmade word searches, puzzle games, singing, dancing, serving meals and document progression.
The most enjoyable parts are when I hear stories or facts from residents, which I find fascinating.
There are many courses available including Health and Social Care, Medication, Food Safety, Palliative Care, Moving and Handling.
You should have a caring nature, be willing to learn, prepared to adapt to changes and treat others how you would like to be treated.
I began my journey with RMBI Care Co. in 2013 as a Care Support Worker at Ecclesholme, in Manchester. Today, I am the Recruitment Manager working nationally across all our Homes.
My Dad was a Freemason and I’d attended many Masonic events to support him in his various roles. I was looking for an opportunity to join a care provider who shared the same values as me, and Dad, who’d visited Ecclesholme with the Association of Friends, recommended RMBI Care Co. and got me an application form.
It has been a privilege to support our residents throughout my career. From my initial role as Care Support Worker, I moved on to become a Senior Care Support Worker, a Home Trainer, Investigations Officer and now the Recruitment Manager.
Care is what I do and who I am. RMBI Care Co. gave me something I can believe in; a community where people truly care about each other. Regardless of the part we all play across the organisation, we live by a set of core values and all contribute in various ways to supporting the most vulnerable in our communities. In my new role, my focus is on helping the Homes to bring in enough of the right people who are suitably skilled, qualified and share our values, to support our residents to the highest possible standards, as they so rightly deserve.

There is no ‘typical day’ as a Facilities Manager; the role is extremely varied. My role covers all aspects of facilities from the direct maintenance and managing contractors to compliance, health and safety. Providing our residents with a safe and homely environment is what drives everything we do.
We have a great team here at Queen Elizabeth Court in Llandudno and working with them is very rewarding. What I enjoy most is spending time with our residents and listening to their stories. When they are happy, they let you know and when they aren’t happy, they let you know. When we can do something to help turn that around, it is extremely rewarding.
I have been provided my IOSH qualification as part of my training which has been invaluable as a Facilities Manager, I have also been able to utilise my skills from the construction industry daily.
a tough job as there is a lot to do and achieve. It is however varied and because no two days are the same, it keeps me challenged.
when we built the visitor pod and our residents were able to see their families properly for the first time in a while. It was hard work and we had to do it as quickly as possible but it was worth the effort. The residents use it constantly and are trying to convince me to turn it into a gin bar!
